1. Please introduce your company.

Samsung Heavy Industries, established in 1974, has consistently led the global shipbuilding and offshore industry, earning worldwide recognition for its advanced technological capabilities, particularly in high-value-added vessels and offshore plants. We specialize in the construction of sophisticated ships and offshore facilities, including LNG carriers, LNG-FSRUs, Drillships, and FPSOs. Furthermore, we are at the forefront of decarbonizing the maritime industry through our smart ship technologies and eco-friendly vessel solutions. Recently, we have been focused on developing alternative eco-friendly fuel propulsion technologies such as ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol, alongside digital twin and autonomous vessel technologies, to build a sustainable future for the maritime sector.

2. What is your company's main theme for KORMARINE?

Samsung Heavy Industries' main theme for KORMARINE 2025 is 'be at the forefront of next energy technologies and autonomous ship'. Under this vision, we will primarily showcase next-generation energy technologies and innovative autonomous navigation solutions that will lead the future of the shipbuilding and offshore industry.

At the exhibition center 1, visitors can directly experience advanced technologies poised to revolutionize the future of maritime mobility. Samsung Heavy Industries' SHIFT-Auto autonomous ship technology maximizes the safety and efficiency of vessel operations. Through inspection robot technology that enhances work efficiency and VR solutions offering vivid experiences, you can witness Samsung Heavy Industries' digital innovation capabilities.

At the exhibition center 2, a variety of eco-friendly technologies for the decarbonization of the maritime industry will be introduced. We will intensely highlight Samsung Heavy Industries' efforts to proactively respond to international environmental regulations and contribute to creating a sustainable maritime environment, through next-generation eco-friendly fuel-based propulsion systems such as OCCS (Onboard Carbon Capture System), ammonia, and hydrogen, along with various energy efficiency solutions.

3. What does KORMARINE mean to your key clients or partners?

KORMARINE is an important platform where Samsung Heavy Industries, along with global shipowners, equipment manufacturers, and technology partners, gathers to collectively envision the future of the maritime industry. For customers particularly facing the dual significant challenges of strengthening environmental regulations and digital transformation, it offers an invaluable opportunity to directly observe how Samsung Heavy Industries is transforming these changes into opportunities. Furthermore, our key clients, global shipowners, can utilize KORMARINE to review Samsung Heavy Industries' latest technology roadmap and gain crucial insights to inform their future shipbuilding plans. Moreover, it serves as a venue to strengthen collaborative networks with equipment manufacturers and technology partners, thereby contributing to enhancing the overall competitiveness of the maritime industry ecosystem.

4. What is Samsung Heavy Industries' future outlook for the shipbuilding and offshore industry, and how is the company preparing for it?

Samsung Heavy Industries anticipates that the shipbuilding and offshore industry will evolve in three major directions. Firstly, the commercialization of eco-friendly propulsion technologies for decarbonization. Secondly, the implementation of smart ships leveraging digital technologies. And thirdly, the establishment of marine energy infrastructure.

To proactively address these changes, we are making the industry's largest R&D investments in the development of zero-carbon fuel propulsion systems, including ammonia and hydrogen, and are already engaged in joint development of eco-friendly vessels with several shipowners. Furthermore, we are leading the smart ship market by advancing autonomous navigation technology and ship data analysis platforms.

Through these efforts, Samsung Heavy Industries aims to evolve beyond being a mere shipbuilder to become a comprehensive marine technology company that encompasses marine mobility and energy solutions. We sincerely hope that KORMARINE 2025 will serve as a meaningful platform to share this vision with our customers and partners.
