(CMP) is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance paints and coatings, serving the marine, container, industrial, offshore wind, and yacht sectors. Founded in 1917 and headquartered in Tokyo, CMP provides advanced anti-corrosive, anti-fouling and environmentally friendly coating systems to customers around the world.

CMP’s growing involvement in the offshore wind industry highlights its commitment to supporting renewable energy infrastructure through long-lasting, durable coating solutions that can withstand harsh marine environments.

Chugoku Samhwa Paints, Ltd. was established in 1988 as a joint venture between Chugoku Marine Paints, Ltd. of Japan and Samhwa Paints Industrial Co., Ltd. of Korea. The company manufactures and supplies Chugoku Marine Paints’ products for the shipbuilding and heavy-duty coating industries in Korea.

2. What is your company's main theme for KORMARINE?

At this exhibition, our main focus will be on introducing antifouling paints and coating solutions applicable to Off-shore Wind Farm facilities.

First, Antifouling paint is considered a core technology in marine coatings, effectively preventing fouling caused by the attachment of marine organisms to the underwater area of ships. By reducing frictional resistance with seawater, it contributes significantly not only to improved fuel efficiency but also to enhanced vessel performance.

Furthermore, by lowering fuel consumption, antifouling paints play a direct role in reducing carbon emissions, which is crucial for complying with the IMO’s recent environmental regulations, such as CII and EEXI.

Second, as demand for renewable energy continues to grow, there is an increasing need in the market for highly durable products applicable to offshore wind power generation facilities.

CMP offers coating systems with proven performance, based on technical expertise and experience accumulated over many years, through various applications on marine structures including offshore wind turbine installation vessels.

We plan to showcase a variety of coating systems that meet ISO 12944 and NORSOK M-501 standards required for offshore wind power generation projects, using paints characterized by water resistance, seawater resistance, and weather resistance.

3. What does KORMARINE mean to your key clients or partners?

I believe KORMARINE is a festival where the latest marine technologies and industry trends can be explored at a glance.

By bringing together companies from various sectors that lead the global marine and shipbuilding industries, it provides valuable networking opportunities with industry experts, which can translate into tangible business prospects.

Moreover, the exhibition serves as a platform to simultaneously understand the challenges faced by the global marine and shipbuilding industries and to envision their future.

4. How does Chugoku Marine Paints wish to be perceived by its customers?

We hope that Chugoku Marine Paints will be recognized as “a leading company aiming to harmonize human activity with nature”, endeavors to promote industrial growth with the environment very much in mind, and continues its creative and innovative approach to further customers’ satisfaction.
