Minimax presenting turnkey fire protection at sea
Minimax will present its Marine solutions at Kormarine in Korea on Oct. 22-25, 2019. Their dependable fire protection systems help to save lives, valuable possessions and the environment.
At sea, safety is of the utmost importance because in the event of fire, rapid escape is usually impossible, and the prompt arrival of outside help cannot be expected. Apart from many other fire risks, panic and compromised maneuverability are further typical sources of danger which have to be taken into consideration when choosing an extinguishing system. The variety of fire risks on ships calls for a partner who provides fire protection from planning through to realization and who takes special requirements into consideration. Minimax is one of the leading full-service providers for fire protection worldwide.
A Minifog marine XP system for example can protect machinery spaces up to 8,235m³ in volume, with the new nozzle generation only requiring 0.077L/min/m³. This corresponds to water savings of up to 90%. As one nozzle can protect up to 32m² of cabin surface, significantly fewer sprinklers are required than in traditional systems. The use of the Minifog marine XP watermist system satisfies the demand for minimizing space and weight on ships, along with the highest safety requirements.
Furthermore, Minimax offers an alternative solution for use in engine rooms on ships and platforms – the MX 1230 marine extinguishing system with the proven and tested clean agent NovecTM 1230. As this extinguishing agent is neither corrosive nor electrically conductive, no damage can result in the engine room from short circuits or residue on sensitive components. This makes MX 1230 marine systems perfectly suited to effectively and carefully protect sensitive components.
The fixed Dry Powder fire extinguishing system is designed for fighting fires in the ondeck cargo areas of ships carrying liquefied gases in bulk (gas carriers) and in the area of gas fuel bunkering stations on board ships using gases as fuel. The system could be used as modular or multi zone system. Modular systems can be placed easily on deck and have no long pipe and pilot piping installations. For multi zone systems the required piping from the powder unit up to the monitors or hand hose lines could be up to 227m. The ambient storage temperature is up to -38,5 °C.
Expert teams realize appropriate and tailor-made fire protection solutions in accordance with the safety regulations of national and international classification societies as well as SOLAS and IMO recommendations. Additionally, Minimax has the ability to adopt local requirements, it has great track record on successful project completion and a company culture to meet expectations of globally acting companies.
